I had the delight of finding out about beatnikpad.com and Neil’s version of Firefox optimized for the Intel Macs. Why is this awesome? Because Mozilla Firefox seems to have an issue with a long load time on Intel based Macs. As you may (or may not?) know, seconds in the computer worlds can feel like hours! So, Neil of beatnikpad.com has taken the time to modify Firefox so it’s start-up time is crazy fast and overall it just works better. How fast you ask? Well, Mozilla usually takes about 9 bounces to open, and then will take a bit of time after that, while Neil’s version only takes 2 bounces and opens right away. A huge difference if you ask me.

With Mozilla Firefox I seem to get lots of hang time when I have several tabs going at the same time and at other random times as well. So far with Neil’s version I haven’t had that problem (I’m not saying it won’t happen though :P). I suggest you Intel Mac users check it out and give it a try, I’m sure you’ll love it!

Oh, and by the way your bookmarks, history, and everything else will be the same from when you last used Mozilla Firefox, so no need to worry about exporting and importing bookmarks, reinstalling add-ons… and all that junk.

Thanks for reading!
