I was in the kitchen the other day and noticed a bookmark laying on the table. It was for Wal-Mart’s Walk For Miracles event. It has a cute little drawing of three happy kids walking together, assuming that they are”walking for a miracle.”
What caught my eye the most though (and kinda scared me) was the web address that they have chosen. “WWW.WALMARTWALKFORMIRACLES.CA” I looked at it and thought, “Oh my, why is it so long?!?”
One of the most important things in web design and marketing is to make your web address easily accessible, readable, and type-able. Perhaps they didn’t think much of it since they are a huge worldwide company and figured people would be going to it either way but, on the flip side they are a huge worldwide company that could have, and should have, put a little more thought into the web address so it wasn’t such a pain on the eyes to read and fingers to type in. Yes, it does make sense it terms of what they are supporting and what the website is about, but still they could have done better.
