I woke up this morning and for some unknown reason had this idea of “Helping Out the Little Guy.” “The Little Guy” meaning a small businesses in your area.
Here’s the idea…
I know around here there are restaurants and little shops and stores that don’t seem to get much business because of the big corporate businesses like Wal-Mart and chain restaurants taking over everywhere. So, the idea is to get a group of friends together and instead of visiting those big corporate companies to save a few bucks go to the local shop or restaurant, or wherever, and give them a little bit of your business, hence “Helping Out the Little Guy.”
I’m sure every city or town once had that “hot spot” that everyone loved and talked about, but has no died away and barely sees any sort of business. I know personally I feel bad seeing shops and stores that have no one inside and I’m left thinking to myself, “how do they keep it open?” and “why would they want to keep it open with such low business?”
You and your friends don’t have to spend a fortune at the place of your choice, but every little bit counts, and I can assure you that Wal-Mart won’t really miss you all that much, or really for that matter they know they have you in their grips. It’s time to show the “big guys” that they don’t control you.
Help the little guys out.

Sean, its a great idea, I think we all become a victim of the big chain shops like the supermarkets, its just so easy to get everything you want there. It is definately killing off the small shops, and the people who run them who “actually know about what they are selling”
Maybe the big companies like Nike could take note too and use their local freelance graphic designer rather than some big city agency
