It’s a little late since this story is about Thursday night but oh well :P.

Easter weekend is coming up (happy Easter by the way!) so I figured that Thursday would be extremely busy or dead slow. I was right about it being extremely busy. The night started out as it usually does, slow, I do a bit of dishes and wait for the phones to start ringing, chat with my fellow employees, and that sort of thing. Most Thursdays we’ll have 3 people working that consists of the manager, store closer, and I. Luckily this night the manager had scheduled an extra person to come in and work, or else we would’ve been doomed further.

Around 5 or so the phones started ringing and didn’t stop (even after we were closed they will still ringing!) With the manager running the ovens it was up to us three to answer the phones and make the orders. We have two phones set-up so several times there were two of us on the phone and one making the orders, then when I’m out delivering that one less person to help out. Most of the time as soon as I got back there was another delivery that needed to go out.

It was snowing all day and night this Thursday, it was hard to see and the roads were slippery as hell. Do some people decide to tip any better, or even at all? Hell no, I’m just bringing their supper to their door using the car and gas I pay for so they can stay nice and warm and not “drive in this shitty weather,” as some customers will say as to why they’re getting it delivered.

Back in the store the dishes are starting to pile up, the pans that the pizzas are cooked on, plastic containers holding the toppings, and all that sort of stuff. The sinks are getting full and I have no bloody time to do any of it! Fast forwarding a little I eventually get to get the sinks cleared away of all the dishes so I can dump the pans in and get started. After dumping them I get a couple washed (takes only seconds) then I have another delivery to do, they will have to wait.

Fast forwarding once again (so this isn’t too long ;) ) it’s 10:00PM finally! Usually by this time we have mostly everything cleaned up and I can start sweeping the floors and hopefully start mopping by 20 after 10. Not tonight, the orders kept coming in and all four of us are still working. The manager usually leaves by 7:30 and the other worker was supposed to be done by 8:30. Now, we close at 11 Thursday nights and being a small town almost everyone knows this, so of course people are calling at 10:15, 10:30 and 10:45 wanting food delivered (usually takes about 20 min. for a pizza to be made and cooked), we can’t say no but we can swear about it after lol. I got back to the store from my last delivery at 11:10PM, usually by this time I’m almost done counting my money and ready to go home….not tonight though. We still weren’t even done cleaning everything! Thank god my manager was there to sweep the floor to try and get us ahead. I had more dishes to wash, dry and put away, so I powered myself through those and started mopping the floor around 11:25.

After finishing mopping it’s time to count the money and hand in what is owed from the deliveries. In total I had about 20 deliveries (more than last Saturday) which is weird for a Thursday. I guess everyone wanted to get their pizza fix before the Easter suppers with family lol. Out of those 20 deliveries I made $44 in tips, not bad but it’s not the greatest. That works out to $2.20 per delivery, kinda crappy but I’ll have to deal with it. I don’t want anyone thinking I hate my job, because I don’t, but it is frustrating when it’s so busy and people don’t recognize that I am there to make money. I DO go to college, I drive to college everyday of the week (about 20-25minutes one way), and working only 2 nights a week. It’s not like I’m some “lazy teenager” that’s not going anywhere in life, I have a life, I have friends I could be hanging out with during the weekend (especially Saturday nights) I have homework, projects and assignments for school….gah, I just can’t stand why some think they don’t have to tip me, if you’re that poor don’t order food! Make a bloody sandwich! There’s my shoutout to all you non-tippers, though we seem nice at the door we’re extremely pissed off at you.

Bedtime!

I’ve been thinking of actually making a video of my travels on the road, one of those cool fast forwarding ones so you can see how much I drive, and how many people screw me over, pulling out in front of me and not signaling then turning and having me almost hit the back of them, that kind of stuff. Anyone interested? Sorry for the ranting, once I get going I really get going. I’m really a nice guy, to those who are nice to me :D
