Today we took a trip to Surge Communications for a little field trip. The Sr. Art Director explained how things work, who does what and they’re responsible for and the whole process of an advertising company. Our one teacher had worked with them when they just had just started up (8 years ago) so that’s why she was able to get us in there for a little tour and such ;).
We got to sit in the fancy room where all the meetings go on and the art director showed us some cool stuff and had a nice presentation. One of the things he showed was a YouTube video (that I have never seen before but, is apparently old) showing how Microsoft would’ve designed the iPod and packaging if the iPod was theirs. He showed it since it’s a great way to show the differences in advertising and the different ideas people have of what they’ll think will work. Here’s the link to the YouTube video.
We did do a small walk through of the floor, wasn’t too exciting and there really weren’t many people working at the time. Everything looked nice, clean, and professional so that was kinda cool (I’ve never been in an office environment before).
Not much of a report, but it’s good that our teacher had taken us there so they could give us a little bit of a look at what we might be doing someday in the future.
