I’ve seen the name Twitter floating around on some blogs and sites so I finally went and check it out to see what it’s all about. Apparently you just leave a small update via phone, IM, or their site, to let everyone know what you’re doing at that time. So, pretty much you’re telling the world where you are and what you’re doing? This doesn’t make much sense to me since there are so many complaints over online communities (like MySpace, Facebook, etc.) over privacy issues and the sort. Yet, Twitter seems to be the new big thing that promotes giving up your privacy….the internet is a weird, weird place.
Sure, you could say blogging is the same sort of thing but, I can disagree. Blogging is about sharing information, knowledge, and experiences you’ve had. Some might use blogging to share their personal feelings on certain things, but it’s not a by-the-minute update that some creepy people will constantly be watching.
I just don’t get it. So, can anyone answer the question, “WTF is Twitter and why is it so interesting?”
