Hello Rick.

I can't say for sure I know what's happening. Honestly, since Ive never had the problem all I can say it re-save your files, export them again, and try to bring them into a fresh new Dreamweaver document. Also, be sure you're creating the sliced properly. And, if you don't have everything sliced (which you should :P ) remember to turn on the "Include Areas Without Slices" option.

Lizzie, you should have to touch the Javascript file (unless you want to edit it).

To bring it into your web page, open the Nav htm file in dreamweaver, along with the page you want to add it to. Select the entire Nav menu and table (easiest to do when in 'graphics' mode) copy and then paste it into the other file where you want it to go.

Next, go back to you Nav file, go to the "Code" view and in the < head > tags there will be some code that is needed to run the Javascript. Copy and pasts that into the same location (between the < head > tags) into your new webpage. Save this page in the same folder as your menu for it to work properly. If not, you may have to relink all of the image files, along with javascript file, for it to work.

Good luck, hope this helped and you can understand what I'm saying :S

Hi there,

I hope you can help, i've been doing a web design course with dreamweaver CS3, my tutor takes ages to get back in touch sometimes weeks, so hopefully you can give me some advice,

im mucking around with some design ideas, building a NAV bar along the top of my home page, im wanting some items in NAV bar to have a drop menu,
I create the image in fireworks,
>insert slice
>export, select images and htm, from drop menu in dialog
>save in my assets/images
>menu_mm.js file is created as well as htm file, css file and my nav button in 6 different files in bits,
when i drag the menu_mm.js file txt onto workspace it displays in blue like a link,
when veiwed in browser i click the blue txt and it takes me to my intended image with drop menu,

its no good as i need the image in the nav bar so when clicked the drop menu appears, all i get is this menu_mm.js link, image stored as gif in bits

any advice on this would be great
thanks

I see a lot of comments on a "Single" drop down menu and this I don't have a problem with. The problem I am having is creating two or more dropdown menus or cascading menus and inserting them into Dreamweaver. Seems only one will work. What do I do to make two or more dropdown menus work in dreamweaver CS3 when created in Fireworks CS3, both version 8?

If this is on another part of your site I would like the link to it so I can learn how to use Fireworks in the way it was designed to work and do what it can do...

Hey everyone! Sorry for not getting back to you sooner!

@ JB – Since I'm using a Mac everything seems to be working fine. I'll have to get back to you once I get on a PC.

@ Sean – That's weird that's happening. Must be something in the code messing up. Have you tried to export it again from Fireworks and re-import it to Dreamweaver? It's hard to see what's going on without the files.

@ Kinda – Again, that's weird! I've never had the problem so it's hard to know why it's happening. I'd suggest opening the menu itself in it's own htm file (will appear after you export from Fireworks) copy and paste everything over to the new document, and also be sure to grab the javascript code at the top of the menu file (in the < head > tag) and copy that over to the new document as well.

Feel free to contact me ( http://sean-dinner.com/blog/contact/ ) and send your files over when I get back to you and I'll take a look to see if I can fix/find out what's going on.

Hi, and thanks so much for your tutorial.

I seem to be having a similar problem as the one described above, submitted by Sean. I'm not using table, but rather, layers (I'm sort of new to Dreamweaver so bear with me!!). I created the menu item in Fireworks, and it works fine (also works if I import it into a totally blank Dreamweaver page). When I import it into the layer on my actual page, however, it's totally misplaced. I can't figure out how to change the coordinates! Help!!

Hello! First, this site is a great help!

I have a problem when import the file into Dreamweaver though! I mean, it imports fine, but all the tables I'm using are being centered in the page. I can import the menu fine but when I save the file and go test it, when I put my mouse over an option, the popup appears our of place! Like the image is meant to be in the top left. I don't know how to orientate the popup menu around the object! Can you help?!
